I the within named— do herby return this writ— with the body of Joseph Smith, with the following cause of caption & detention— to wit—: the within named Joseph Smith was arrested on a warrent, issued by the of the State of by one a constable of in the State of on the 23— day of June AD 1843 a copy of which warrent is hereunto anexed & marked Letter A— and deliverd over to my custody as directed by said writt.—
The person of said Smith was on said 23rd of June in the County of & State of , by the sed deliverd over to my custody, & that I receved & detaind the said Smith in my custody by virtue of a certen— warrent of Attorny— issued by the of the state of a copy of which is hrto anexed & marked Letter B— directing me to receive the said Smith & convey him to & deliver him to the sheriff of in the state of & that the within detention refered to— is the same refered to & none other. — June 30th AD 1843—
