John answered and said, a man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. ye yourselves bear me wittness that I said, I am not the christ, but that I am sent before him. he <​He​> who hath the bride, is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegrooms voice; this my joy is therefore fulfilled. he <​He​> must increase, but I must decrease. he <​He​> who cometh from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth; he who cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifyeth; and but few men receiveth his testimony. he <​He​> who hath received his testimoney hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God; for <​God​> giveth not the spirit b unt him not the spirit by measure, for he dwelleth in him, even the <​6​> fullness. <​6​> The father loveth the son, and hath given all things into his hands he who beleiveth on the son hath everlasting life and <​shall receive of his fulness but​> he who beleiveth not the son shall not see life but the wrath of God abideth on him

When therefore the Pharasees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, they sought more dillegently some means that they might put him to death; for many received John as a prophet, but they beleived not on Jesus. Now the Lord knew this, though he himself baptized not so many as his disciples, <​2​> for he suffered them for an example, prefering one another. <​2​> And he left Judeah, and departed again into Gallilee, and saith unto his disciples, I must needs go through Samaria. Then the co he cometh to the City of <​Samaria,​> which is called Sychar, near to the parcil of ground which Jacob gave to his son Joseph; the place where was Jacob’s well <​was.​> Now Jesus being therefore weary with his journey, it being about the sixth hour, sat down on the well; and there came a woman woman of Samaria to draw watter; Jesus saith <​said​> unto her, give me to drink. Now his disciples were gone away into the City to buy meat. Wherefore, he being alone, the woman of Samaria saith <​said​> unto him [p. 110 (second numbering)]
