Know all men by these presents that I , of & State of Illinois, am Held and firmly Bound unto James Gray of aforesaid, in the penal sum of Two thousand Dollars, Good and Lawful money of the , which sum well and truly to be paid I bind my self my heirs, Executors, and administrator’s firmly by these presents, sealed with my seal, dated this Ninth day of March One thousand eight hundred and thirty seven.
The condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bounden , his heirs, Executors or Administrators do & shall well & truly pay or cause to be paid, to the above named James Gray, his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, the sum of One Thousand Dollars, Good & lawful money of the , in the following manner viz, Five Hundred Dollars by the first day of March One thousand eight hundred and thirty eight, and Five Hundred Dollars by the first day of March One thousand eight hundred and forty One, with twelve per cent interest from & after the first day of March One thousand eight hundred and thirty eight, Then this Obligation shall be void and of none effect, Otherwise to be & remain in full force & virtue.
