inserted as follows below. viz Joseph Smith jun., , , , , , & , who assembled on the above mentioned day at 4 oclock P.M. and united in prayer with one, voice before the Lord for the following blessing.
That the Lord will give us means sufficient to deliver us from all our afflictions and difficulties, wherein we are placed by means of our debts; that He will open the way & deliver Zion in the appointed time and that without the shedding of blood; that He will hold our lives precious, and grant that we may live to the common age of man, and never fall into the hands of our enemies nor power of the mob in , nor any other place; that he will also preserve our posterity, that none of them fall even to the end of time; that he will give us the blessings of the earth sufficient to carry us to Zion and that we may purchase inheritances in that land, even enough to carry on and accomplish the work unto which he has appointed us; and also that he will assist all others who desire according to his commandments to go up and purchase inheritances and all this easily & without perplexity and trouble; and finaly that in the end he will save us in his c[e]lestial kingdom. Amen.

Saturday 28th. He spent the morning in comparing & correcting his journal.— Eldr. called this morning to <​see​> him, he lives in , Kentucky, about 3 miles above , he had been biten by a mad dog some three or four years since, & had spent much upon physician’s and received some benefit by so doing; but is much afflicted notwithstanding; he came here that he might receive the benefit of the united prayers of the church; accordingly we prayed for and laid our hands on him in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, & anointed him with oil, & rebuked his affliction praying our Heavenly Father to hear and answer our prayers according to our faith in him, even so, Amen. [p. 137]
