court referred to the threat of the Defendant council. adrsing [addressing] court. as attempting to intimidate &c, council explaind satisfactor-ily.— also court referred to what had said since trial that his he had not a fair chance. his witn[es]ses were not allowed, repelld by court.
2 after-noon, Mayor come in office, when Daniel Sherwood 14 years old, was brought up on suspic[i]on of stealing a watch from the house of Geo Nelson.— (No positive testimony— appearing against him) Mayor ordered his father to take take him home and try him if he found the boy guilty to whip him severly. for he is too young to imprison or whip.— [p.
