Saturday May 24 25— 1844 At home.—— Keeping out of the way of expected arrests from towa[r]ds night the gra[n]d jury. retur[ne]d from also & .— infomd [informed] me were 2 indictme[n]ts fou[n]d agint [against] me— one for false swearing. by . &c and one for polygamy or somethi[n]g else— by the Laws [ and ]—— the pa[r]ticulars of which I shall learn mor her[e]after.—
Much ha[r]d sw[e]aring before Gra[n]d jury— swore so hard— that I had received states prope[r]ty. &c His testim[on]y was rejected.—

came in town <​as I herd​> I instuted [instructed] the office[r]s to have him arrested for theateng [threatening] life &c— had a long talk with . . . Bonny— —— &c— and conclud[e]d not to keep out of their way any longer.—
2. P.M. council in my no[r]th Room Letter from orderd an answr also made arrangem[en]ts. to have me have post office.— adj[ourne]d <​to friday next​>. 1 week <​2 o clo[c]k——​>

Much hard swearing before Grand jury— swore so hard— that I had received states property. &c His testimony was rejected.—
