Dear since my return to I have discovered some interesting correspondence which I take the liberty of copying from the office books for your perusal, I will be responsible for any use you may choose to make of it & if you Judge it worthy of Public note I may steal more from time to time.

July 22 the Citizens of signed Petitions to (both male & female) for Protection from mob violence. which were presented by Gen & Mrs & others, together with. a communication from Gen Joseph Smith of the 25— July — to which gave the following reply.
