I hereby Certify that the sum of twentyone dollars and fifty Cents has been this day allowed by the City Council, to be paid to , out of the City Treasury, which amount the will please pay him.—

At the 30 January 1843 Nauvoo City Council meeting, the council ordered that various city officers, including Taylor, be paid for their services. Notations indicate that certificates were made out to each of them. This transaction was recorded in the Nauvoo City Treasury Ledger on 10 February 1844.
