Biography
Sept. 1784–23 Feb. 1878. Farmer, lawyer. Born in Massachusetts. Son of Amos Reed and Hannah Slade. Married first Lydia Taylor. Married second Submit Joiner, 30 Mar. 1813. Served in War of 1812, 1814. Moved to Bainbridge, Chenango Co., New York, ca. 1823. Defended JS in trials in Chenango and Broome counties, New York. Visited Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, May 1844, as delegate from Chemung Co., New York, to elect JS as U.S. president. Moved to Mexico, Oswego Co., New York, by 1855. Married third Mercy Foster, by 1855. Buried in Three Mile Creek Cemetery, Clayton, Jefferson Co., New York.
