Edwards, William Holliday
Biography
13 June 1821–13 May 1846. Policeman. Born in Overton Co., Tennessee. Son of Thomas Edwards and Elizabeth. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, before Oct. 1839. Ordained an elder, Oct. 1839, in Commerce (later Nauvoo), Hancock Co., Illinois. Appointed Nauvoo policeman, Dec. 1843. Married Eliza Allred, 1 Jan. 1844, in Nauvoo. Among those arrested for destruction of Nauvoo Expositor press, 1844. Accompanied James Emmett’s expedition to explore western U.S., 1844; left expedition and returned to Nauvoo, 1845. Died in Garden Grove, Decatur Co., Iowa Territory.
