25 Mar. 1809–11 May 1902. Lawyer. Born in Gordon Station (likely near present-day Harrodsburg), Mercer Co., Kentucky. Son of William Wood and Sallie Thomas. Mason. Moved to Columbia, Boone Co., Missouri, 1829. Moved to Clay Co., Missouri, by 1830. Appointed Clay Co. clerk, 1830. Married first Eliza Ann Hughes, 20 Mar. 1832, in Clay Co. Served as attorney for Missouri’s Sixth Judicial Circuit. Married second Maria H. Payne, 23 Feb. 1841, in Callaway Co., Missouri. Moved to Lexington, Lafayette Co., Missouri, 1845. Married third Mary Ann Bedwell, 16 Sept. 1848, in Nodaway Co., Missouri. Elected judge of Missouri’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, 1865. Died in Lexington.
