Hotel built by Elijah Iles, ca. 1838, on southeast corner of Sixth and Adams streets. JS met and dined with Justin Butterfield, 31 Dec. 1842, and Judge Henry Brown, 2 Jan. 1843, in hotel. In 1843, Abraham Lincoln’s law office opened across street from hotel.
