<​Deed Jefferson Dimick to Joseph Smith for ½ of L 4 in Block 9 of addition to the City of ​>
This Indenture made and entered into, this Second day of May in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty Two between Jefferson Dimick and Mary Ann [Gates Dimick] his wife, of the county of and state of of the First part, and Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in Trust for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of the county of , and State of of the Second part, Witnesseth that the said Jefferson Dimick and Mary Ann his wife, party of the First part, for and in consideration of the love and good will they bear to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of which the said Joseph Smith, party of the Second part, is Sole Trustee in Trust, and also for the sum of one dollar, to them in hand paid, the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm, unto the said Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in Trust for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, party of the Second part, his successors in office and assigns [p. 84] forever, all that tract or parcel of land situate and being in the county of in the State of known and described as follows, to wit. The North half of Lot No four in Block No nine of ’s addition to the City of and also as much land joining said lot as will make it equally as large as other half Lots containing sixty six Rods together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in anywise appertaining. To Have and To Hold The above described premises unto the Said Joseph Smith, party of the Second part, his successors in office and assigns forever. And the said Jefferson Dimick and Mary Ann his wife, party of the First part, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in Trust. &c. party of the Second part, his successors in office and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will Warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Testimony Whereof, the said Jefferson Dimick and Mary Ann his wife, party of the First part, have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.

I, a Justice of the Peace, in and for the City of , in said do certify that Jefferson Dimick and Mary Ann his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed, and who are personally known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Mary Ann Dimick having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said Husband, acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said husband.
