Includes docket.Single leaf measuring 2 x 7 ¾ inches (5 x 20 cm). The recto’s top and right edges have the cut of manufactured paper. The left edge was torn; the bottom edge was unevenly cut. Signatures are torn out. The note was folded in half twice vertically to pocket size, measuring 2 x 2 ½ inches (5 x 6 cm), and docketed by : “Oct 19th 1836 | Recd. in full | on the within”.This document was in the possession of Lory and Charles Holmes, then relinquished to JS on 19 Oct. 1836 when it was paid in full. Based on the docket by , the note was in JS’s possession in the era, suggesting continuous institutional custody.Note: This promissory note, along with two others which are no longer extant, is associated with Deed from Lory and Charles Holmes, 5 October 1836.
